TH4934: The Drama of Doctrine - Dr Lucy Peppiatt This module explores questions such as, ‘Where do Christian beliefs come from and how do we decide what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ or true or false? What place does the denomination have in what we believe and why?’ We explore the foundations of the Christian faith in scripture and the early church, and how those foundations have endured through the ages. Years 3 & 4 Modules TH5904: 18th Century British Revivals - Rev Chris Pemberton Revival is an exhilarating word: it evokes visions of new life, the power of the Spirit, renewal and restoration and the promise of hope. Against the rich preliminaries of revival in North America and elsewhere we trace the landmark changes in both understanding and practice that took place in the 18th century British church, exploring primary documents of sermons preached and papers written. Working in reverse chronological order, this module will review major figures in theological reflection upon humanity. Students will be expected not only to learn the claims of these thinkers of Christian anthropology and the historical uniting which connects them all together, but moreover to reap the skills of hair-trigger reflection and systematisation that constructive work in the willpower requires. TH5917: Christian Dialogue with Other Faiths - Dr Joanna Williamson The module Dialogue with Other Faiths, invites you into dialogue, draws you into explorations of the deep questions of faith that maybe plane you were wrung to ask yourself.
